Libby is actually a Colorado Mountain Dog, a fairly new breed which is a combination of various livestock guardian breeds of livestock guardian dogs combined to accentuate the best traits of each.
Charlie is a Great Pyrenees and is new to our farm having arrived as a 3 month old pup. He has grown quickly to over 110 lbs at a year old and has learned his role as guardian admirably. He loves to patrol the fenceline to establish a protective perimeter.
Rosie is also a Great Pyrenees and is Charlie's sister and littermate. She too is developing into an outstanding guardian. A bit shier than Charlie, she is quite content to sleep with her goats when they're relaxing in the barn or just hang out with them in the pasture.
Remi, Great Pyrenees, always loves the babies - no matter what species. She has fearlessly and singlehandedly treed bears on more than one occasion! She's now 13 years old and retired. Currently her main job is to make sure the living room rug doesn't fly away!
Gabriel, Great Pyrenees, crossed the Rainbow Bridge in the fall of 2018 at the ripe old age of 13 1/2. During his time as active guardian he particularly loved the chickens and was once found laying on a clutch of eggs. When we convinced him to get off the nest we found he hadn't broken even one! Truly a gentle giant that has earned his rest.
And no home would be complete without a rugrat! Sammy was found as a stray and he's thought to be a poodle dachshund cross. He's about 11 years old, loves to go for rides, and eat junk food! Well, who doesn't?
